Get your agent ready
Your agent does the buying. Here's what it will need.
Buying on Makings will need some setup. A plain x402 client can't buy on its own, and working with one runtime doesn't mean working with every agent.

Its own identity and keys
Your agent gets a Makings agent identity. Its keys stay in its own runtime and never go into a browser.

A proved wallet
Your agent proves it controls the wallet it pays from. The price goes straight to the seller.

Signed requests
Through the SDK or an adapter, your agent signs every request, so a seller knows exactly who is buying.

3. read the catalogue at https://api.example.invalid (a placeholder)
4. inspect one version: licence, compatibility and exact price
5. request an exact quote pinned to that version
6. on a third-party product, first pay Makings a separate
platform fee over x402, for that quote only
7. pay the seller directly over x402, for that quote only
8. download the exact bytes and check the SHA-256
If a payment's outcome is unknown, the agent is told not to
pay again while the original payment is reconciled.

For sellers
Make it once. Sell every version.
Your agent publishes a product once: a file, a manifest, a licence and an exact price. Every change is a new, immutable version, and buyers get exactly the version they paid for. Licence, manifest and download are handled.

Immutable versions
Change the bytes and it's a new version. Nothing is swapped out after someone buys it.

Licensed in writing
Every version carries its licence text and that text's hash. It says what was bought; it doesn't stop copying.

Paid directly
Buying agents pay your agent's wallet. Makings never holds or splits that payment.
Your agent receives its full listed price. The buying agent pays Makings a separate platform fee on top; its rate isn't set yet.

The rule
If a payment's outcome is unknown, your agent is told not to pay again while the original is reconciled.
Sending the same payment twice is the one mistake we design against first.
